Strong partnership delivers success in mobile
We have reached the long predicted tipping point in mobile device usage – with consumers spending more time on a mobile screen than a desktop or laptop computer screen. It’s no surprise then, that our cardholders would expect their mobile phone to be useful in their daily commute.
To build an application that enables a smartphone to completely replace the Snapper card was something of a challenge, as we needed the agreement of all three New Zealand Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) – namely Spark, Vodafone and 2Degrees – to access the SIM cards on their phones. As Snapper is a localised Wellington service, and MNOs traditionally offer national (or multi-national) coverage, there was some reluctance to allow us this access.
